Parisian Blue Sky
One of my favourite things about reading blogs is when someone interviews another blogger and you find all about someone new that you may not have discovered before then. When I started my own blog, I was curious to find out what other local blogs there might be and have always planned on doing a Blog Love interview series where they would hopefully answer my questions and I could share them with you!
Kaz from Parisian Blue Sky is someone that I'm friends with (and work with) in real life. Whilst I was busy talking about starting a blog but never actually getting around to hitting that publish button, Kaz was actually going live with hers :) We've had many a blog discussion in the office and I love that I'm around someone who understands the whole blog scene as many people we know in real life aren't 100% sure what we're doing (even though they are 100% supportive regardless!) Beyond the odd pedicure here and there, I've never really had my nails properly done nor explored the world of nail polish...and I had no idea that there was so much out there until Kaz started writing about it and linking to it. That's the best thing about blogs...you can have your own little corner of the Internet and be completely into something you love, and you will find there are people out there all over the world that are just as into the same thing and love nothing more than talking and writing about it as much as you do. I also love watching Kaz when a parcel of nail polish arrives at work...parcels in general have the potential to be the best part of a work day...but Kaz takes it up a level when the parcel contains nail polish and she squeals with excitement as she opens it and I swoon over all the pretty colours and the guys who work with us think "hmmm riiiiight". I may never take getting my nails done beyond the odd pedicure here and there, but I appreciate Kaz's passion for it and I like nothing more than watching someone getting excited and creative about something they love. Plus, I now know someone with an amazing nail polish collection so when that next pedi comes around, if I'm stuck for colour ideas, I know who to ask :)
How did you get started in blogging?
I saw all the pretty pictures of nail polish on the ‘net and thought that I’d like to give it a try as well.
Besides the world of nail polish, what is one other thing you've learned a lot about since getting your blog up and running?
Blog designs and layouts, Digital Scrapbooking and Photography – I had no idea what “white balance” was six months ago.
Describe the perfect day spent in local/nearby surrounds
Playing at the lake or park with the kids, then heading out for the evening to one of the great cafés or restaurants around town.
What is your current foodie obsession?
Mason’s – because it is good for sharing little bites of deliciousness with family and friends. And because you are only having little bits of a lot of things you get to try something that you may not usually order.
What is your favourite current trend in nail polish styles or colours right now?
Glitter is always a favourite. I like stamping nail art. It looks great and people usually comment on them. The China Glaze Bohemian Luster Collection also looks pretty cool.
If you could add one new nail polish to your collection and money/location of said item was no object…what would you choose?
Essie Starry Starry Nights. This is the Holy Grail of the nail polish world. Navy blue polish with silver glitter in it, it looks like the night sky.
What is one thing we would be surprised to know about you?
I have absolutely no musical or singing talent whatsoever.
When you're not painting your nails, reading blogs, & spending time with your gorgeous family…what else do you do for fun?
I like to cook and I love reading books, magazines, the back of the milk bottle, whatever happens to be around at the time.
Do you write/photograph your blog posts ahead of time or do you literally paint your nails, photograph them & post as you go?
Most of the time the I am wearing the polish as I am posting it. If I have had a day when I have done a lot of swatching I might have a few backup posts is reserve.
When the US TV season kicks off in September, which returning show are you most excited about?
Greys Anatomy, Game of Thrones, Haven, Bones, Gossip Girl. In Aussie TV I am looking forward to more Offspring and the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries.
What books would we find on your nightstand?
I just finished the new Sookie Stackhouse novel, am in the middle of the Hannah Swensen foodie/mystery series, and about to start on some classics: The Great Gatsby and Tess of the D’Urbervilles.
What are three tabs you always have open in your browser?
Facebook, eBay and Bendigo Bank (the more I spend on eBay, the less money I have with the bank LOL).
Do you find it difficult to explain the world of blogging to people you know in real life or are the people who are closest to you curious/interested in your website?
I have mentioned my blog to my mum, but she “doesn’t do blogs”. I tried to explain it to her but she just doesn’t get it J My sister and some friends follow my blog, but mostly it is people I don’t know in real life.
Besides your camera, what is one blogging tool that you couldn't go without?
A computer! And some nail polish. No polish = no blog.
What blogger or `person behind the website' would you be most excited about meeting in real life if there was no restrictions such as travel/language?
Scrangie – the queen of polish blogging. I can only imagine what her polish collection would look like *sigh*
Thanks Kaz. You can find her blog here, Facebook here, Pinterest here, and we are yet to convert her to Twitter!
Do you know a Bendigo (or nearby surrounds) blogger? Leave a comment here, on Facebook or Twitter...or email me using the contact tab in the menu above...I'd love to find out about them.
