Online Mags: Rue & 79 Ideas

So lately I've started getting back into my online magazine addiction...winter does that to you I think.  I was going to do a series of posts about my favourites, but in re-acquainting myself with those, I found almost as many new ones along the way.  So I'm going with pairs...an old and a new-to-me magazine.  I found myself thinking back to a high school assignment where a friend and I designed and wrote our own magazine from the ground up. I'm talking scissors and glue here...the only part of it produced on a computer was the columns of text...which we printed on a dot matrix printer *pause for effect* and then pasted onto the pages. There were coloured pencils involved...except we did this 'advanced for our time technique' (haha) where we shaved pieces of lead onto the pages and made gentle shadings of colour. If only we knew what Adobe was going to bring to the table! I wish I could remember the details of the stories we wrote...I guarantee you it was some pretty in-depth journalism. We've been brainstorming via text as I write this...we think the magazine title was "Onyx" (no link to the Britney Spears tour) and we have absolutely no recollection why.

What's not to love...studio tours, retail finds, blogger profiles, food, design, travel...page 102 of this issue includes a feature on St Kilda's Esplanade, but retail finds in Hamburg so it really has a global feel.  I also love their extras section on the website, with downloads, videos and even playlists. This is their 11th issue, but you can go right through their back issues too.

New-To-Me Find: 79 Ideas (Prague)

Her e-mag is so beautifully photographed and put together...the latest issue is centred around Valentines Day...handmade gift ideas, recipes to follow, treats/notes/ideas for the day.  Just lovely.
