What Folk Eat
Super Moreish Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce & Custard Polka Dots...just some of the lovely foodie treats that have been travelling in the post between Monaliz and I as part of Sunday Folk's "What Folk Eat" mail swap...
Recently, the lovely Sunday Folk put out an instagram call for foodies interested in participating in a mail swap based around the theme "what folk eat". Treats and parcels in the mail? As if this is something I could ever resist. They partnered Monaliz from Bella Sweets with me...and we both got started putting together parcels for each other. I somehow unintentionally ended up following a pink/polka dot theme. I picked up some goodies from Trove Market (Just Jams Strawberry Jam, and Rocky Pebbles from Pud For All Seasons). I found some linen napkins, and a sweet little milk jug from Oliver Birch which I filled with chocolate chips. A few winters ago I made up a dessert called Polka Dot Custard...choc chips sprinkled on steaming hot custard...yum!
Did someone say sprinkle? I also had this crazy idea at the last minute to make up an 8x10 print centred around the idea of words related to baking, as Monaliz's business is all about amazing cakes, dessert tables and macarons. Seriously, follow her on instagram and just watch the sugary eye candy roll in...talented girl she is! Anyway if you follow me on instagram, you would have seen me lamenting on Sunday that I had what I thought was the perfect idea for this print but it just wasn't working for me "on the page". I was trying to decide whether I should just give up....or whether I'd stick with it because I didn't want all that time sketching the lettering to have been for nothing. Plus, I just hate when I can't get things to work! The above print is nothing like what I originally pictured in my head, but I love how it turned out ...and that it reminds me of many weekend afternoons of baking...maybe I should print one out for me too! :)
Above are the gorgeous goodies Monaliz sent me. A handmade table runner, hand painted cake stand, a recipe for Choc Hazelnut and Raspberry Cake (she was spot on with my favourite flavours there!) and some home made salted caramel sauce...she's right about it being "super moreish"...yum!
I had such fun working on this mail swap...I am definitely keeping my eye out for more in the future...maybe you might like to do the same! Thank you Sunday Folk and Monaliz :)
