Piglet Meets Chalkboard
A piglet quote from AA Milne meets some chalkboard-effect lettering...I've been having fun playing around with Photoshop and possible print ideas.
I've always wanted to learn how to achieve the look of chalkboard based on messing around with hand sketching lettering and then finishing up with some Photoshop magic, otherwise known as the awesomeness of RadLab. So lucky for me, my sister decided both real & digital chalkboards were going to be a repeat theme in her wedding...translation: here was the motivation I needed to figure this out.
I tried a mixture of `chalkboard' text & just regular type for the menu, and then we framed a slightly larger version of the Wishing Well image printed on card stock. Both included repeats of fonts/illustrations included in the invitations. I'm no stylist/designer but I think repetition of key elements like these make such a difference to the cohesive look and feel of an event. The wedding versions of the chalkboard pictured use a digital background by Paislee Press which you can purchase as part of a gorgeous set of digital album templates here. Liz does minimalist design so freaking well :)
I always loved Winnie the Pooh when I was little....especially how he always had his paw in a `Hunny Jar' (in my case it was Nutella)...and I thought this quote was sweet so I had a play with it. I learned how to make my own chalkboard background. I spent a Sunday afternoon in my sunny study sketching lettering based on the Paris & Jellyka Delicious Cake fonts...listening to podcasts...I think I'll tweak a few more things, but I love how it's turning out :)
So just thought I would share some ideas for prints that I'm playing around with for that Etsy store I keep mentioning...I promise I'm getting close to actually opening it :)
