Grace Kelly: Style Icon
There's no such thing as a lazy weekend afternoon in central Bendigo of late as the city is playing host to an influx of visitors for one reason, the "Grace Kelly: Style Icon" exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery (@BgoArtGallery).
I met a friend from Ballarat for the first session on a crisp autumn Sunday morning and despite the numbers an international exhibition of this calibre is bound to bring, we loved it. Any excuse to dress up and go out for lunch afterwards and I am there! Weekend sessions are already sold out, and it runs until June 17 so if you're interested make some time in your schedule on a week day (or evening) and check it out.
Some things to remember...
- Book ahead for where you plan to lunch/dine as well. We had to try a few places before we found room for coffee and cake, and as a result of our wandering we discovered that in addition to Cafe Au Lait's already tasty breakfast/lunch menu…they also do adorable mini desserts such as cheesecakes, puddings & pies! I will be going back to sample more of these...
- Start at the end of the exhibition and work your way back, you'll get more space that way
- Don't be like the lady we sat in front of who answered her phone in the middle of the video screening at the exhibition (and then had a long & loud conversation)…they ask you to turn off your phones for a reason!
I got there a little too early so I spent some time wandering around the buildings. It was a textbook autumn morning with blue skies and crunchy leaves, so I took some photos with my phone to pass the time...
